Workshop on Kernel Functions and Meshless Methods honoring the 65th birthday of Robert Schaback

Göttingen, January 14/15, 2011

On the occasion of his 65th birthday, this workshop honours the outstanding achievements in kernel based methods Robert Schaback has made over a career spanning more than 4 decades.

Positive definite functions or kernels have emerged as a useful tool in various applications, including machine learning, parameter identification, computer-aided design and meshless methods for solving partial differential equations.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together collaborators, colleagues and students of Robert Schaback who have been taken part in the development of kernel-methods in all areas of scientific computing and numerical analysis.

Organisation

The workshop is jointly organized by the Institut for Numerical and Applied Mathematics, Georg-August University Göttingen and Graduiertenkolleg “Identification in Mathematical Models: Synergy of Stochastic and Numerical Methods” (DFG).

Here you can download the pdf-file of the poster for the workshop that includes also the schedule.

We plan to publish research articles honoring the 65th birthday of Robert Schaback in the
Journal Dolomites Research Notes on Approximation.
Please, send your article to Stefano DeMarchi before April 30, 2011.
