Summer School on
Dynamical Systems 2008
- an EU Intensive Programme -
Mathematisches Institut, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen
12.07.-26.07.2009

Short description of the summer school
|
|
The theory of dynamical systems is an active field of research in mathematics, biology, physics and
other areas of science and is characterised by many interdisciplinary features. The purpose
of this summer school is to add these interdisciplinary facets to the existing study programms in
mathematics, physics and other subjects without leaving the rigoruous mathematical ground behind.
The summer school is addressed to advanced students (B.Sc./M.Sc./doctorate) in various disciplines
with strong background in mathematics.
|
|
|
The work programme is based on five mini courses taught by internationally recognised
experts in mathematics and sciences. The base of each mini course is a series of lectures.
Accompanying problem sessions and seminars give many occasions
to lifely discuss the topics and thereby provide numeruous opportunities to deepen the students
understanding and broaden their way of thinking.
2 ECTS credits will be certified for each mini course successfully completed.
|
|
|
As indirect impact, the summer school will significantly advance the participating students' education,
in particular, it will substantially improve their preparation for their future careers.
As indirect beneficiaries, lecture notes, video recordings and eLearning modules can be used as base
for future studies.

|
|
In addition to the scientific program there will be a number of social events, e.g. excursion to the
city of Kassel, hiking tour, grill party and so forth.
